'Visualising Animal Hard Tissues' is a Research Development Award funded under the AHRC/EPSRC Science & Heritage Programme. Using a number of 3D imaging techniques, the project is developing a web-based resource of images and photo-realistic 3D models that can be manipulated to better understand the nature of raw materials and worked artefacts and help with the identification of animal hard tissues. We hope that use of the web resource will benefit many, including heritage professionals and in the fight against wildlife crime.
This project further develops aspects of Dr Sonia O'Connor's AHRC/EPSRC Science & Heritage Fellowship 'Cultural Objects Worked in Skeletal Hard Tissues'.
